This talk will try to do justice to the hubris as well as to the ground realities. Brief bio: ----------- Dr. N. R. Srinivasa Raghavan is currently the Head of Data Science and Big Data at Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL). Earlier, he was the Head of Data Science with Citibank Global Decision Management. He has also worked with General Motors R&D, Fair Isaac, and Dell. Prior to his industry stint, he was a faculty member with the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) at Bangalore from 1999-2007. In industry, he has been leading global centers of excellence covering several domains like telecom, oil & gas, financial services, automotive, personal computer, semiconductor manufacturing, and retail. His seasoned experience in architecture and organizational model for Data Science and Data Governance helped him be a Strategic Advisor to CXO’s in Business and IT heads. He has 1 patent and 16 classified industry reports to his credit. During his tenure at IISc, N. R. S. Raghavan set up collaborative partnerships with leading agencies from USA such as Semiconductor Research Corporation, Intel, General Motors, SAP Labs, Unilever etc, as also with the Department of Science and Technology Gov of India, to help fund his laboratory on Decision Sciences. Raghavan has over 66 publications in leading international journals and conferences. For his signal contributions to the Analytics industry in India, N. R. S. Raghavan was acclaimed as one among the Ten Most Influential Analytics Leaders in India by Analytics India Magazine. He is a recipient of the Young Engineer Award of the Indian National Academy of Engineering, the Young Associate Award of the Indian Academy of Sciences, and the Young Scientist Fellowship Scheme by the Department of Science and Technology. He has chaired many international conferences, been a keynote speaker and has also been a panel coordinator in many panel discussions.
