IEOR Day - November 2,2012

IEOR faculty and students came together to celebrate IEOR day on November 2, 2012.  There were talks by Prof Vishnu Narayanan on the properties of sets arising as convex hulls of integer points and by Prof Jayendran Venkateswaran on metaheuristics for nonlinear and combinatorial problems.  Prof. Narayan Rangaraj spoke briefly on  the importance of research in IE and OR and on some recent work in railway operations.

The event saw an even bigger participation from the student community.  Anirban Ghatak gave a presentation on "How to Play Better Against Multiple Opponents" which was educative yet amusing. Manu Gupta and Hamidur Rehman also gave talks on "Pricing Server's Surplus Capacity" and "Semi Infinite Programming" respectively. This was followed by an interactive session between the students and faculty on several topics regarding research in the department including research publications, and intellectual property rights(IPR). The event was concluded with an OR quiz conducted by Prof Ashutosh Mahajan.

We extend our heartiest thanks to Prof K. S. Mallikarjuna Rao for coordinating this event.
