The industrial visit to the Air Circuit Breakers manufacturing unit of L&T, Powai organised on October 13, 2012 proved to be a wonderful learning experience as it helped students to gain a better insight into the practical aspects of IE&OR.
The visit became even better learning experience with the enthusiasm and active participation of students who flooded the engineers at L&T with very good questions on how industrial operations work, the production and planning issues faced by them and so on.
The visit also reflected upon the biggest strength of IEOR department which is “Unity in Diversity”, as students with electrical and electronics department helped others to understand the products and their functioning, while students with mechanical and production background explained the manufacturing processes and some basic terminology of production shop floor.
All together the visit was an enthralling experience and we look forward to have such visits more frequently in the future.
