Abstract: The Probabilistic Method, was initiated by Paul Erdos starting with his pioneering paper in 1946, and has now become one of the most important tools of the Combinatorist. I will mention 3 (mathematical) problems and what is known about them presently. Interestingly enough, all the important progress was based on probabilistic ideas. The talk will not assume much background, and is expected to be accessible to undergraduates as well.
