Title: Value stream mapping for lean operations and cycle time reduction

Abstract: The talk is on the first reported application research on Value Stream Mapping (VSM). This was first research application of VSM in the automobile sector. The speaker will share the application experience, challenges and the research value of this work while working with the company. The talk discusses the status before and after improvement and attempts to quantify "lean" on the chosen parameters and about how VSM based process improvement is easy, fast and effective.

Speaker bio: Dinesh Seth has been associated with Qatar University in the Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Department, College of Engineering, Doha, Qatar for almost 10 years. 16 years ago, he introduced process improvement and value stream mapping based lean through his consultancies, master's project/Ph.D. guidance and researches in India. His application oriented studies on lean and value stream mapping are among most read and most cited studies. He has a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Masters in Industrial Engineering & Management, and Doctoral degree (PhD) in Japanese Quality and Productivity Improvement Practices in 1996. His professional experience of 26+ years of teaching, consulting, applied research, administration and corporate training activities covers a very wide and diverse spectrum of industries and institutes. He is the author of "Global Management Solutions: Demystified".
