IEOR participation in ORSI-2019 at IIM Ahmedabad

IEOR had a strong presence in ORSI-2019, the annual convention of the Operational Research Society of India, held at IIM Ahmedabad from 15-18 December 2019.

Firstly, Ashutosh Mahajan, Prashant Palkar, Meenarli Sharma and Mustafa Vora conducted a pre-conference workshop on the Minotaur software suite, for Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Optimization problems.

Several papers were presented, by Prashant Palkar (Accelerating LP, NLP, and MILP Based Algorithms for Convex MINLPs using Parallelization Schemes), Akul Bansal (Pareto Frontier for Polling Systems), Swapnesh Subramaniam (The Effect of Rolling Stock Standardization on Rake Utilization and Punctuality of Services), Meenarli Sharma (Linearization Schemes for LP/NLP Based Branch and Bound Algorithm for Convex MINLPs), Ravi Kant Rai ( Bidding in Impartial Combinatorial Games), Prachi Shah (Optimization of a Large Line Haul Network for Delivery Operations) and Harshit Kothari (Bag Creation for Large Scale Delivery Operations), Devanand (Similarity Among Nodes for the Branching Decisions in Branch and Bound Algorithm) and Mustafa Vora (Timetabling for large courses: Practical insights and mathematical modelling).

Alumnus Hamidur Rahman presented a paper (A branch-and-cut algorithm for Pattern Minimization Problem) arising from his doctoral work in IEOR.

Jayendran Venkateswaran chaired a plenary session. Manoj Kumar and Narayan Rangaraj also attended the conference.  Alumni Vishal Shinde, Surjit Laha, Tilak Raj Singh, Sachin Jayaswal and Sundaravalli were also present at the conference.
