Why Join IEOR at IIT Bombay?

IIT Bombay is one of the premier engineering institutions in India. IEOR at IITB is a unique department in India, with a diverse faculty and student body. The department has been growing rapidly in the last few years, and aims to grow further, concentrating on building strong Doctoral and Masters programmes. Below, we list some of the attractions for potential faculty members.

Strong Postgraduate Programmes

The IEOR Department admits students only in postgraduate programmes---Ph.D., M.Sc.-Ph.D., and M.Tech. This  allows faculty members to offer Ph.D. level courses in their areas of expertise, and focus on advanced level courses at the Masters level. Apart from this, interested faculty members can offer undergraduate institute elective courses.

All postgraduate students admitted through our regular programmes are funded; the supervisor need not fund such students from their research grants. Top up grants to postgraduate students through faculty and departmental funds could be sometimes be used as additional resources for deserving students and activities of interest to the department.

 Steady stream of Ph.D. students

The number of applicants to our regular Ph.D. programme has been steadily increasing in the last few years. This, together with our M.Sc-Ph.D. programme ensures that in steady state, IEOR will have over 40 Ph.D. students at a time.
