Theoretical and practical aspects of Machine Learning
Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR) an interdisciplinary programme at IIT Bombay celebrates IEOR Day every year. This year it will be celebrated offline on 3rd (Sunday) of April 2022. Many leading experts from academia and industry will present and discuss their ongoing work and future challenges during the event. Industrial Engineering and Operations Research is a interdisciplinary programmes in IIT Bombay, IEOR offers research based M.Tech., Ph.D. and M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual degree programmes, and is actively involved in research (including sponsored projects), consulting and continuing education. The discipline offers a blend of theory, modelling and application, drawing from traditional as well as modern areas of operations research, together with a systems view derived from long-standing principles of industrial engineering.

Sajeev Abraham George is a Professor of Operations & Supply Chain at S. P Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) Mumbai and currently is the Chairperson of the PGDM program of SPJIMR. He has over 30 years of experience in academics and research, out of which the last 14 years have been with SPJIMR. He has a PhD in the area of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from IIT Bombay. Prior to that he received his MTech in Industrial Engineering and BTech in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Kozhikode, Kerala. He has published research papers in major international journals and areas of his current research interest include, Supply Chain Management, Service Operations Management and Performance Benchmarking. He is a recipient of the IBM Faculty award and received Emerald outstanding paper award for one of his research publications. He has presented many papers in reputed national and international conferences and has served as the Conference Chair of the 12th Indian Subcontinent Decision Sciences (ISDSI) conference held in December 2018 and the SPJIMR-POMS India chapter conference in July 2016. He is currently serving in the board of POMS India chapter as the Vice President, meetings.
Innovations in managing supply chains are increasingly becoming key to a firm's success in today's digital world. The combination of enhanced technologies for decision making and human creativity and collaboration are important for effectively addressing the mismatch between supply and demand of products and services. The lecture will focus on some of the emerging trends and innovations in managing supply chain challenges.

Harshad Khadilkar is a senior scientist with Tata Consultancy Services Ltd where he leads the Planning & Control team, and is also a visiting associate professor at the department of aerospace engineering, IIT Bombay. He holds a bachelor in technology from IIT Bombay, and a Masters and PhD from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
