M.Tech Fellowships

Two types of fellowships are available for MTech students of IIT Bombay through the Centre:

  • FedEx Research Graduates will be admitted for a three year MTech, as Research Assistants for Projects (RAPs)
  • MTech students who have already completed one year as a Teaching Assistant (TA) will be supported as FedEx Graduates for their final year.

The above support includes monthly stipends and support for travel for conferences and research work. 

FedEx Research Graduates

FedEx Research Graduates are admitted at the beginning of the Master’s program for a 3 year M.Tech, based on a project proposal by a concerned faculty member.  They will be MTech students (RAPs) in the department of the supervising faculty member.

The student will finish their coursework in two years while also working on the proposed project. They will do RA/TA work in their department along with helping the centre in its activities. The project will be one of direct relevance to the areas of logistics, supply chains, transportation, mobility and infrastructure related to the above.

Final project outcomes are presented to the Centre and also form a part of the student’s thesis.

Admissions are conducted in the months of May (for the July semester). Announcements of dates of applications, admissions test, interviews etc are announced on the admissions page of IIT Bombay. Candidates need to apply for RAP positions in the departments where faculty are offering projects funded by the centre.

All Research Graduates admitted through the centre receive a monthly stipend of Rs 20,400 in their first year, Rs 21,400 in the second and Rs 22,400 in their third year. Additional support is available for attending conferences and contingencies.

FedEx Graduates

FedEx Graduates Admitted to IIT Bombay through existing channels as Teaching Assistants.

  • Will continue as TAs, but receive entire assistantship in 2nd year of their program through the Centre.
  • Project proposal by student, supported by Faculty Supervisor, after 1 year of course work.
  • Final project outcome presented to the Centre and part of the outcome of the Centre’s activities (workshops, outreach etc.).  Acknowledgement of this in the student’s thesis.
  • Outreach target is to have one conference presentation in a conference or workshop, arising from this work.

All Graduates admitted through the centre receive a monthly stipend of Rs 21,400. Additional support is available for attending conferences and contingencies.
