Several FedEx Doctoral Fellowships for PhD students of IIT Bombay are available through the centre. These fellowships include monthly stipends and travel support for conferences and visits. Additional support for equipment may be available in certain cases. PhD fellows supported through the centre work on research areas of the centre.

New Admissions

FedEx Doctoral Fellows are admitted through the regular admissions procedures of IIT Bombay for well-defined project proposals developed by faculty associated with the Centre. These fellows are admitted to the respective department of their supervisor and have to follow all norms of the PhD programme of that department. These fellows are required to help the centre in various activities and report their progress periodically.

Admissions are conducted in the months of May (for the July semester) and December (for the January semester). Announcements of dates of applications, admissions test, interviews etc are announced on the admissions page of IIT Bombay.

For Current Students

FedEx Doctoral Fellowships are also available for students currently enrolled in IIT Bombay as Teaching Assistants. Students in the first two years of their programme and in good academic standing will be awarded the fellowship based on a research proposal submitted by their respective supervisors. These students are required to fulfill all academic requirements of their respective department at IIT Bombay, including any Teaching Assistantship work. Calls for such proposals are announced periodically.

Support for Fellowships

All PhD fellows admitted through the centre are provided a monthly stipend of Rs 52,000 in their first two years and Rs 57,000 in the remaining three years. Additional support of up to Rs 4,50,000 is available for attending conferences and contingencies.
