IEOR office, earlier located in room 308A in Mechanical Engineering building, has been relocated to room 323 in the same building. Also, Prof. P.G. Awate's and Prof. Narayan Rangaraj's offices have been shifted to room 304C and room 323 in the same building, respectively. The phone numbers of all the three offices remain unchanged.
Ratnaji Vanga, a fourth-year Ph.D. student, presented the paper titled "Facility Location Models for Pallet Supply Chain with End-of-life Tracking", a joint work with Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran and Prof. Narayan Rangaraj, in the Joint Symposium on 44th International Conference on Computers & Industrial Engineering (CIE 44) and 9th International Symposium on Intelligent Manufacturing and Service Systems (IMSS’44).
The symposium was held during October 14-16, 2014, at Istanbul, Turkey.
Anu Thomas defended his Ph.D. thesis titled "Approaches to supply chain coordination: Decomposed and decentralised decision making models" on October 17, 2014. He was jointly advised by Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran at IIT-B, Prof. Mohan Krishnamoorthy at Monash University, Australia and Dr. Gaurav Singh at CSIRO, Australia. IEOR team wishes Dr. Anu Thomas all the best in his future endeavors.

Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran has been promoted as Associate Professor, IEOR for his contributions to the Institute and department. He is a faculty member at IEOR, IITBombay since 2005. His research and teaching interests are primarily in the areas of modeling, simulation and analysis of complex systems (viz. supply chains).

The 52nd Convocation of IIT Bombay was held on 9 August, 2014. IEOR Ph.D. student Vikas Vikram Singh received "Excellence in Thesis" award for his dissertation "Some topics in Stochastic Games". The award is given to a selected set of students in the Ph.D. programme for their exemplary contributions during their thesis work, overall academic performance and contributions during the student's tenure in the doctoral programme.
