On March 15, 2026, the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR) at IIT Bombay hosted its annual flagship event, IEOR Day 2026. This year’s theme, “OR in the Age of Generative AI,” brought together students, researchers, and industry professionals for a day of engaging talks and discussions.

I am extremely happy to welcome Prof. Arunselvan Ramaswamy who has joined the Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR) at IIT Bombay on 27th February, 2026 as Associate Professor.
Arunselvan obtained his Doctorate from IISC in 2016 and has served at Paderborn University, Germay in various positions such as Academic Associate, Lecturer, Junior Research Head (Data Science and Artificial Integlligence) and Stand-in-Professor. Prior joining IEOR, he served Karlstad University, Sweden as Associate Professor.
The Cleanliness Competition (Phase IV) of the “Clean Campus Drive” was successfully conducted across all academic departments, non-academic sections, Section 8 companies, externally funded centers, hostels, and zonal areas of Junior Engineers (JEs) during 23–27 February 2026 by three evaluation committees.
Divya Jyoti Bajpai, a research fellow at IEOR, IIT Bombay, presented his paper "BEEM: Boosting Performance of EEDNNs Using Multi-Exit Classifiers as Experts", co-authored with Prof. Manjesh Kumar Hanawal at The ACM Academic Research and Careers for Students (ARCS) 2026. The dates for the event were 11 February 2026 to 14 February 2026. The Academic Research and Careers for Students (ARCS) is an annual symposium hosted by ACM India, dedicated to providing a unique platform for research scholars in Computer Science and related fields across India.
The Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR) is pleased to welcome Dr. Manikandan Rangaswamy as an INSA Visiting Scientist. His visit is scheduled from January 12 to February 10, 2026.
Dr. Rangaswamy is a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics, Central University of Kerala. His research interests include stochastic modelling and analysis of queueing, reliability, and storage systems; stochastic games in queues; and telecommunications networks and their applications. During his visit, he will be collaborating with Prof. N. Hemachandra.
Savad KP, a PhD student from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR), participated in the Reinforcement Learning Workshop 2026, held at the IISc Bangalore campus from January 15–18, 2026. The workshop commenced with a tutorial on reinforcement learning theory by Prof. Gugan Thoppe from IISc Bangalore. From January 16-18, the event featured insightful talks by renowned professors from around the world, including Aviral Kumar, Vivek Borkar, and M Vidyasagar, among others.
Himanshu Maurya , Anubhav Bonit , Divya Jyoti Bajpai and Prakhar Paliwal attended the COMSNETS 2026 conference , dated 6th January 2026 to 10th January 2026. The conference focused on Communication System and Networks , highlighting various innovative research taking place in this field . The conference also served as a platform for networking and academic exchange, contributing positively to ongoing projects and future collaborative opportunities.
Gurkirat Wadhwa presented her paper titled "Price Equilibria with Positive Margins in Loyal-Strategic Markets with Discrete Prices" at the 64th IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC 2025), Rio De Janerio, Brazil. This work, coauthored with Akansh Verma (MTech passout student, IEOR), Prof. Veeraruna Kavitha, and Prof. Priyank Sinha, discusses Nash equilibria and Edgeworth cycles in a modified Bertrand duopoly. They have attached a personal picture and the CDC invitation letter to support leave form completion.
Sachin Bodke, PhD Scholar, attended the International Conference on Business Analytics and Intelligence (ICBAI) organized by the Operations Research Society of India – Karnataka Chapter (ORSI-KA) in Madurai. The conference brought together researchers, academicians, and industry professionals working at the intersection of operations research, analytics, and decision sciences.
