TechConnect 2013 was held from 3rd Jan to 5th Jan 2013. IEOR students presented some of their projects based on simulation studies which included:
- Suggesting performance improving measures for the operations of a hospital and a pizza shop. These suggestions were justified through simulation studies of both systems.
- Finding the global minima/maxima of noisy, non linear functions by use of Genetic Algorithm, a popular meta-heuristic (evolutionary algorithm).
The IEOR stall drew the interest of school children, college students and working professionals, in or outside the field of Operations Research, alike. Most of the project demonstrations saw a healthy interaction between the visitors and IEOR students with many questions being asked by the audience.
