Eligibility Criteria for Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor, IEOR

Candidates for faculty positions at IIT Bombay must satisfy the Qualifications and Experience (as mentioned in the current advertisment),  and the additional eligibility criteria as specified below for IEOR. Satisfying the criteria does not guarantee shortlisting.


Additional criteria for IEOR for Assistant Professor:

Candidates should have a minimum of THREE (3) publications in reputed journals or refereed conference proceedings in the areas related to industrial engineering or operations research.

Journals and conference proceedings listed in Scopus or SCI or CORE or ABDC or AMS MathSciNet will be considered as reputed. Other journals and conference proceedings that are considered as reputed by the department are listed below:

  • Proceedings of Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization (only full papers)
  • Proceedings of International System Dynamics Conference (only full papers)
  • Proceedings of all IEEE conferences (only full papers)
  • Proceedings of ACM confernces and journals (only full papers)

Additional criteria for IEOR for Associate Professor:

Publication

  • Candidates should have, in total, a minimum of EIGHT (8) publications in reputed journals or refereed conference proceedings.
  • Out of the above, the candidates should also have a minimum of 3 publications in reputed journals or conference proceedings during Assistant Professor Grade I or equivalent.
  • Journals and conference proceedings listed in Scopus or SCI or CORE or ABDC or AMS MathSciNet will be considered as reputed. Other journals and conference proceedings that are considered as reputed by the department are listed below:
    • Proceedings of Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization (only full papers)
    • Proceedings of International System Dynamics Conference (only full papers)
    • Proceedings of all IEEE conferences (only full papers)
    • Proceedings of ACM confernces and journals (only full papers)
  • Reviewed Book chapters, upto 2, can be counted as equivalent to 1 publication each.
  • Granted patents, upto 2, can be counted as equivalent to 1 publication each.

Teaching

  • Candidate must have demonstrated ability to teach courses relevant to Industrial Engineering/ Operations Research.

PhD Guidance

  • Candidates should be supervisor/co-supervisor of at least one PhD student. The criteria of PhD guidance of students may be relaxed for candidates with excellent research records, if they are from industry/ research labs/ non-Ph.D. granting academic institutions.

Projects/ Research Grants

  • At least 1 external sponsored project (externally funded) during the assessment period.

Additional criteria for IEOR for Professor:

Publication

  • Candidates should have, in total, a minimum of TWELVE (12) publications in reputed journals or conference proceedings.
  • Out of the above, the candidates should also have a minimum of 4 publications in reputed journals or refereed conference proceedings during their assessment period
  • Journals and conference proceedings listed in Scopus or SCI or CORE or ABDC or AMS MathSciNet will be considered as reputed. Other journals and conference proceedings that are considered as reputed by the department are listed below:
    • Proceedings of Integer Programming and Combinatorial Optimization (only full papers)
    • Proceedings of International System Dynamics Conference (only full papers)
    • Proceedings of all IEEE conferences (only full papers)
    • Proceedings of ACM confernces and journals (only full papers)
  • Reviewed Book chapters, upto 2, can be counted as equivalent to 1 publication each.
  • Granted patents, upto 2, can be counted as equivalent to 1 publication each.

Teaching

  • Candidate must have demonstrated ability to teach courses relevant to Industrial Engineering/ Operations Research.

PhD Guidance

  • Candidates should be the supervisor of at least two PhD student who have graduated.

Projects/ Research Grants

  • At least 1 external sponsored project (externally funded) during the assessment period.
