Simran Lakhani, a PhD scholar of IEOR, presented her work titled "Extending Services Optimally for a Bank" (co-authored with Prof Ashutosh Mahajan and the SBI team), at the 57th Operational Research Society of India (ORSI - 2024) conference held at the IIT Bombay, India from 12th Dec to 14th Dec 2024. The initial part of the talk was given by Rashda Khanam from SBI. She introduced the concept of extended facilities and their requirements to improve the bank's reach and attract new customers. The latter part of the talk discussed the model for deciding which locations are suitable for adding these facilities. The model considers the footfall data of the existing branches, their geographical information, transactional data, and customers' demographic data.
