Prof. Narayan Rangaraj visited Monash University and CSIRO, Melbourne, Australia as part of a team from IIT Bombay visiting the two institutions during March 4-7, 2014.
The following talks were delivered during the visit:
OPTSUM 2014 was organized by JDA Software India in Hyderabad on 6-7 March. Optimization and data-analytics experts from industry and academia met and discussed latest research in these areas. IEOR M.Tech. student Ruchir Santuka gave a talk on "Cutting Stock Problem with Setup Costs" and Prof. Ashutosh Mahajan talked about "Exploiting Structure in Mixed-Integer Nonlinear Optimization".
Title: Random geometric complexes Speaker: Dr. Yogeshwaran, D. EC Senior Researcher, EE, Technion Time: 2:15pm, 27th, February 2014 Venue: Room 217, ME Building Abstract: In this talk, we shall focus on the global behaviour of geometric simplicial complexes built random point sets. Starting with definitions of simplicial complexes, I shall describe heuristics about the vanishing and formation of Betti numbers (counts of holes in the simplicial complex). We shall later look
Anusuya Ghosh, a research scholar, won SIAM student travel award for SIAM conference in optimization.
She will be presenting her paper on "Convex sets with semidefinite representable sections and projections", joint work with Prof. Vishnu Narayanan.
This is one of the prestigious conference in the field of optimization which will held in San Diego, California, USA this year during May 19 - 22, 2014.
