K Geetha Bhargavi (MTech student, IEOR, IIT Bombay) attended Data Science Workshop (DSW) with Unilever 2023 held from 31 January to 2 February 2023 at Bengaluru. She was invited to present her MTech thesis work being carried out with the company collaboration in the workshop, on the topic Direct Dispatch Opportunity Prediction and Order Fulfillment models in the Supply Chain Optimization area with the guidance of Prof. Narayan Rangaraj, IEOR IIT Bombay.
Data Science Workshop at Unilever was a two-day event where Robert Morgan, Director of Data Science, COE Unilever Global, and Data Science (DS) specialists working at Unilever across the globe came together. Along with 2 students from IIT Bombay and IIT Madras who are working on projects with Unilever Global, the 20-member data science team also included working professionals from Singapore and Vietnam who attended the event. The event consisted of professionals working across sectors - Optimization, Generative AI, Pricing and Promo Modelling, NLP, Computer Vision, Advanced Statistics, Geospatial, and Explainable AI.
The program consisted of discussions over various projects as a business vision of Unilever for the year 2023. The workshop offered the chance to interact with the company's director of data science about the project and to actively participate in various design thinking and knowledge-sharing sessions with the team of DS professionals. The program included discussions on contents such as vendor management, AI growth, NLP models, and usage of optimization in the company.
