Sachin Bodke, a second-year Ph.D. student in the IEOR department at IIT Bombay under the guidance of Prof. Narayan Rangaraj, pursued his R&D project under the supervision of Prof. Usha Ananthakumar from the SJMSOM department. He presented his work at the International Conference on Emerging Technologies, Analytics, and Operations (ICETAO 2024), held from March 22nd to 23rd, 2024, at ICFAI Business School (IBS) in Hyderabad.

Conference Theme: “Unlocking the Potential of Emerging Technologies: Harnessing the Data Revolution”

Presentation Topic: Spatial Dynamics of Malaria: Some New Insights.

Abstract: This data-driven study provides a comprehensive analysis of malaria cases in India from 2020 to 2022, emphasizing the intricate relationship between climatic factors and disease transmission. Through analytics and GIS-based mapping, the research identifies hotspots of malaria transmission, particularly in the east and northeast regions during peak months from July to October. By integrating rainfall, temperature, and population data, the study underscores the critical role of climatic variables in driving malaria prevalence, offering essential insights for tailored public health interventions and control strategies.
