The 2018 issue of the annual departmental magazine Optimystic was released by IEOR head Prof. Narayan Rangaraj, Dean (R&D) Prof. P.V. Balaji and Prof. N. Hemachandra on the occasion of IEOR Day 2018. During the occasion, Prof. Rangaraj noted that the first edition was launched in 2014, and commended the efforts of the students in resurrecting the magazine. He also hoped that the magazine would be a regular feature of IEOR and become an avenue for showcasing students' literary and research works.

Soundarya Natya Kalalaya Sanskriti, IIT Powai (Cell for human values) , held Annual Day on 6th May 2017. This included Bharatnatyam performances by students of the institute, which included three students from IEOR department, Sandhya Tripathi, Aanchal Panwar and Chhavi sharma.
IEORSA,2017 had arranged a farewell for the students of M.tech 2017 batch and M.Sc. students who are graduating in the year 2017. The program was attended entusiastically by current M.Sc. and M.tech students as well as the faculty members.
There was a small momento distribution program held in the department , where the faculty members gave valuable messages and regards to the students for their future . This was followed by a few fun activities and dinner.
An orientation session for newly-admitted students was conducted by IEOR Students Association (IEORSA). M.Tech and PhD students had their orientation on 15th July 2016 from 2:30-5:00pm and MSc-PhD dual degree students had theirs on 16th July 2016 from 3:00-5:00pm.
A farewell function was organised by the IEOR Students Association for the 2016 passing-out batch of M.Tech and PhD students on 23 June 2016. IEOR faculty members joined in to spend some time with them. Vinay Rai, general secretary of IEORSA, was the presenter for the evening.
The graduating students introduced themselves briefly, shared their experiences in IEOR and on campus, and shared their future plans. They were then presented with gifts by the faculty members. The faculty members shared their thoughts and blessed the outgoing batch with their advice.
Owing to exemplary hardwork, determination and planning, IEOR has won the overall championship in PG sports 2014-15. Thanks to everyone for making it possible. Atul Kumar played a key role as the Joint Sports Secretory in this successful campaign.
