The Game Theory Lab at the Department of Computer Science and Automation, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, organized the GAME-ARTS, Game Theory, Mechanism Design and Artificial Intelligence  Symposium, which saw a significant turnout from the IEOR department. Attendees included students, alumni, and faculty members such as Prof. N. Hemachandra, Prof. K.S. Mallikarjuna Rao, Prof. Urban Larsson, and Prof. P. Balamurugan.

Sachin Bodke, a PhD student in IEOR, successfully completed a summer internship with Apex Kidney Care in Chembur, Mumbai from May 15, 2024, to July 15, 2024. During this period, Sachin gained valuable insights into kidney health and dialysis treatments.
Sachin's internship involved significant projects, including:
1. The burden of depression amongst patients receiving hemodialysis at public and private dialysis centers and the factors contributing to it.

IEOR welcomes Dr Sudeep Singh Sanga to IEOR as a visiting scientist under the INSA scheme. He will be here in this month of July 2024.  He is a faculty in the Department of Mathematics, NIT Surat; works in the area of Queueing Theory, and will be collaborating with Prof. N. Hemachandra in this visit. 

IEOR had a strong presence at EURO OR 2024 in Copenhagen, Denmark from June 30, 2024 to July 3, 2024.  Ph.D. student Kritika Karwasra presented "Optimal use of in-house and outsourced vehicles", based on her Ph.D. work.  Prof V. Kavitha presented "Algorithms to solve Risk Sensitive MDPs, Games and Applications", based on work with her Ph.D. students Vartika Singh and Tushar Walunj.

IEOR is happy to announce that Dr. Saurabh Jain has joined as an Assistant Professor. Saurabh Jain completed his PhD from Systems & Industrial Engg at the University of Arizona in 2021, and has since worked in Intel  Corporation as OR Engineer. Saurabh Jain's research interests are in simulation modeling & analysis, data driven decision support, etc.

Kritika, Pintu, and Santosh PhD students of IEOR department attended the 4th Large Scale Optimization Workshop held at IIT Roorkee from May 18th to May 26th, 2024. In addition to participating, Kritika volunteered at the workshop and presented her research.

Prof. Urban Larsson and his research group, consisting of Prem Kant, Ankita Dargad, and Anjali Bhagat, were invited to give their talks at the Centre of Creative Learning in collaboration with the Computer Science & Engineering Department, IIT Gandhinagar. Prof. Larsson gave his talk titled “The Fundamental Theorem of normal play.”
