IEOR Day - November 2,2012

IEOR faculty and students came together to celebrate IEOR day on November 2, 2012.  There were talks by Prof Vishnu Narayanan on the properties of sets arising as convex hulls of integer points and by Prof Jayendran Venkateswaran on metaheuristics for nonlinear and combinatorial problems.  Prof. Narayan Rangaraj spoke briefly on  the importance of research in IE and OR and on some recent work in railway operations.

Industrial Visit to L&T

The industrial visit to the Air Circuit Breakers manufacturing unit of L&T, Powai organised on October 13, 2012 proved to be a wonderful learning experience as it helped students to gain a better insight into the practical aspects of IE&OR.

The visit became even better learning experience with the enthusiasm and active participation of students who flooded the engineers at L&T with very good questions on how industrial operations work, the production and planning issues faced by them and so on.

Sports Workshop cum practice session

News Category

The two Sports events organized by IEORA for the freshers on the 25th of July and 22nd September saw a good turnout. The juniors benefited from the experiences  of seniors as they played every game together. Not one minute was wasted as the freshers eagerly learnt new games and practised the ones they were good at. Some of them showed real promise and were eager to represent IEOR in the PG Sports Matches. Hope we see some medals soon..

Farewell to graduating students

News Category

  A grand farewell was given to the passing out students of M. Tech (2010 batch) on 14th May 2012 at Gulmohar. Faculty from IEOR too joined in to spend some time with them. It was a fun filled event with the juniors making each of them sing, dance and perform to their requests. The seniors also sportingly complied. A performance by Anirban Ghatak and Debayan Das made the audience tap their feet.

IEOR in PG Cult 2012

This year PG Cult did not see as much enthusiasm as it saw last year from IEOR.

Nevertheless, we still did participated in the Phase II of PG Cult 2012, and our PhD student Anirban Ghatak bagged the first prize for photography and this is consecutively for the third time he managed to bag the first prize in PG Cult Photography Competition.
