Admissions: M.Sc.-Ph.D.

Admission Scheme

Admission to the M.Sc.-Ph.D. dual degree in Operations Research will be on the basis of merit in the test papers Mathematics (MA) or Mathematical Statistics (MS) of Joint Admission Test (JAM).

Application Procedure

Qualified candidates can apply on the prescribed Admission Form to the JAM Organizing Institute. Visit JAM website for applying to M.Sc.-Ph.D. (Operations Research) in IITB.

Candidates are advised to visit http://www.ieor.iitb.ac.in/acad/msc_phd to know some details of this Ph.D. programme, like the coursework, projects, thesis and other requirements.

Minimum Educational Qualification for Admissions

Bachelor's degree with either Mathematics or Statistics as a subject for at least two years/four semesters.

Reserved Seats

There are seats for candidates belonging to various reserved categories, as per IITB norms.

Financial Assistance

Teaching Assistantship (TAship) will be provided from the first year onwards for a maximum of 6 years, subject to fulfillment of academic criteria and satisfactory research progress. The fellowship amounts are as follows:

  • Rs. 6,000 p.m. from date of joining till confirmation of Ph.D. registration.
  • Rs. 25,000 p.m. after confirmation of Ph.D. registration.

Students who qualify in the national level exams conducted by UGC, JRF, CSIR, GATE, DBT and ICMR can avail of these fellowships from the commencement of Semester V.
