Bheeshm Sharma, a PhD student at IEOR, IIT Bombay, presented his paper titled RASALoRE: Region-Aware Spatial Attention with Location-based Random Embeddings for Weakly Supervised Anomaly Detection in Brain MRI Scans at the 36th British Machine Vision Conference (BMVC) 2025. The conference was held from November 24th to 27th, 2025, at Cutlers' Hall, Sheffield, UK. The paper was co-authored by Karthikeyan Jaganathan and Balamurugan Palaniappan.

Students of B.Tech (2nd Year) in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, accompanied by Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran and teaching assistants Advitiya Mishra, Ayush Gupta, Risha Podder, and Akshat, visited the Mahindra & Mahindra Automotive Plant in Nashik on 1st November, 2025. The visit offered valuable exposure to large-scale automobile manufacturing processes, including the TCF and XUV assembly lines.

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR), IIT Bombay organized a field visit to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) for the first-year B.Tech students on 5th November 2025.

Prior to the visit, students were introduced in class to the fundamentals of port and ship scheduling, providing them with a theoretical foundation to better appreciate the practical aspects of port operations.

Divya Jyoti Bajpai, a research fellow at IEOR, IIT Bombay, presented papers "Know What You Don't Know: Selective Prediction for EEDNNs",  co-authored with Prof. Manjesh Kumar Hanawal at The Fifth International Conference on AIMLSystems held in Bengaluru, India. The dates for the conference were 07 October 2025 to 11 October 2025. AIMLSystems targets the research in the intersection of Systems Engineering and Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning techniques.

 

Bheeshm Sharma, a PhD student at IEOR, IIT Bombay, presented his paper titled IsoSignVid2Aud: Sign Language Video to Audio Conversion without Text Intermediaries at the 5th International Conference on AI-ML Systems 2025. The conference was held from October 7th to 11th, 2025, at the Chancery Pavilion Hotel, Bangalore, India. The paper was co-authored by Harsh Kavediya, Vighnesh Nayak, and P. Balamurugan.

Prof. Vinay Kumar obtained his Doctorate from IISC in 2021 and has held Postdoctoral positions at INRIA Center at Universite Cote d’Azur, France and at Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands.

IEOR is recognised by the Institute for implementing Hindi in the Department. We have been presented with an award on 30/09/2025 in an event organised by the Hindi Office at PC Saxena Auditorium. Pintu Kumar, a research scholar at the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR), IIT Bombay, presented his paper titled "EDN: A Novel Edge-Dependent Noise Model for Graph Data" at the European Conference on Machine Learning and Principles and Practice of Knowledge Discovery in Databases (ECML PKDD). The paper was co-authored by his supervisor, Prof. Nandyala Hemachandra.
