Sachin Bodke, a PhD scholar under Prof. Narayan Rangaraj at IEOR, recently completed an internship at Knorr-Bremse Technology Center India Pvt. Ltd. During the internship, he worked on an AI-powered Customs Classification Assistant designed to identify and correct customs classification codes in SAP material records while keeping humans in the loop for final decisions. The project combined rule-based validation, diagnosis, semantic search, and rationale techniques to suggest possible customs codes across the EU region.
The internship provided valuable industry experience in applying artificial intelligence and data-driven decision-making to large-scale real-world business challenges.
