The topic of his talk was on "Sustaining Solar Energy Access through Localisation", which was based on the SoULS project
Prof. Jayendran was invited to the IIIE International Conference on Best Practices in Supply Chain Management organized at Trivandrum, India, on December 22nd-23rd, 2016. He gave a talk on "Supply Chain challenges in sustaining technology interventions in rural India". He was also one of the panelist for a panel discussion on “Evolutionary trends in Supply Chain Management”. He also chaired a session on "Rural Supply Chain and Reverse Supply Chain".
IEOR faculty members K.S. Mallikarjuna Rao and Vishnu Narayanan gave a 10-lecture course on optimization at IISc as part of the IFCAM Summer School on Large-Scale Optimization, also organized as part of the National Mathematics Initiative.
Workshop on Systems Thinking and System Dynamics (WSTSD) 2015 was organised by System Dynamics Society of India (SDI) on October 23-24 at IIT Bombay. Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran presented two talks on: (i) Participatory System Dynamics Modeling (Sharing Some Experiences) and (ii) Impact of Production Inventory Control on the Dynamics of Epidemics.
Students and faculty from IEOR participated in the 22nd International Symposium on Optimization held triennially by the Mathematical Optimization Society in Pittsburgh, USA. Research scholar Anusuya Ghosh gave a talk on a Convex Cone with Semidefinite Representable Sections while Umakanta Pattanayak, who is also a research scholar, talked on Intersection Cuts for Convex Integer Programs from Translated Cones.
Prof. Hemachandra gave a talk in a colloquium organized by the Electrical Engineering department of IIT Bombay on 4th February. He talked about his joint work with IEOR students Kishor Patil and Sandhya Tripathi on the topic 'Why are some queues (not) in equilibrium?'
Faculty members K. S. Mallkarjuna Rao and Vishnu Narayanan gave a short course on Optimization at the IFCAM Summer School on Applied Mathematics at IISc, Bangalore. The short course consisted of eight lectures (during July 7--10, 2014) on various aspects of optimization, and several advanced courses in the three-week summer school will build upon contents of the optimization course.
