Abstract:
WCM encompasses the essentials of most of the labelled change initiatives in the World. It is a long-term structured approach which is cyclical [PDCA- Plan, Do, Check, Act], comprehensive and systematic business tool. WCM helps in achieving this Sustainable, Superior Performance by putting in place the “Art of Manufacturing for Consistent Excellence”. WCM aims at improving Nation’s Competitiveness and Business Excellence through Breakthrough and Continuous Innovations supported by a Team based Management System. It strives for Zero Loss Culture coupled with highest standard of Quality and Productivity. The Eight Dimensions of WCM: Work Environment; Environment; Health & Safety; Supply Chain Management (SCM); Market and Customer; Quality Management; People Management; Information & Systems; Innovation & Technology. These all dimensions play a vital role in achieving WCM.

SCM is one of the major contributors in WCM as it is the integration of key business processes, from original supplier to end-user, to provide products, services, and information. Environmental and economic concerns have substantial influences on the developmental foundations of Green SCM (GSCM). It is an approach that aims to integrate environmental issues into SCM procedure starting from product design, and continuing through material sourcing and selection, manufacturing processes, the final product delivery and end-of-life management. A fuzzy BSC – TOPSIS framework has been developed to measure the performance of GSCM implementation in Indian automobile organizations followed by a comparative case analysis of performance of four different automobile parts manufacturing organization to validate the applicability of the proposed framework. The overall result of performance analysis obtained for ‘organization A’ is 58.20%, ‘organization B’ is 62.90%, ‘organization C’ is 46.03%, and ‘organization D’ is 54.55% respectively. The application of the model could inspire SC managers to think about to pay more attention to audit and performance thereby improving overall GSCM performance. A well-planned, well-coordinated and good GSCM program will bring about better and enhanced cross functional and intra-organizational process planning and control. A comprehensive control system will be essential in order to guarantee the effective and efficient performance measurement all along the SC for decision making authority of managers in participating organizations.
