Title: Crew planning and some other topics/problems in rail transportation planning

Abstract: The first part of the seminar will focus on railway crew planning for both freight and passenger train services taking the case of Bhusaval and Mumbai Divisions of Central Railway, respectively. The second part will briefly cover the following topics/problems in rail transportation planning: i) Technical and managerial challenges in network-wide  railway timetabling ii) Multi-modal freight transportation planning with terminal related constraints, and iii) Modelling a rail freight transportation problem with freight consolidation.

About the speaker: Anoop K P is a Post-Doctoral Fellow in IEOR working in the area of logistics and transportation. He completed his PhD in logistics and supply chain management from NIT Calicut in 2020. During his PhD, he worked on the freight transportation function of Food Corporation of India. His current research interest is in the application of OR and simulation based methods to solve problems in logistics and transportation.
