Abstract: In this presentation we will tell the story of how academic research on algorithms, optimization, AI, and electronic markets led to a successful startup company that is now included in Coupa's Business Spend Management suite.We will discuss some interesting problems that occur when trying to apply theory in practice, and give some perspectives on creating a successful IT-company.
Speaker profile: Arne Andersson is VP of Development at Coupa Software. He has a background as a Full Professor in Computer Science at Uppsala University, where he also was Head of Department of Information Technology. During his academic career, he published a number of articles in theoretical computer science in prestigious journals and conferences such as JACM, Journal of Algorithms, FOCS, STOC, etc.
