Title: A Collaborative Platform for Data Science Innovations in Public Health

Date and time: 15 April 2025 (Tuesday), 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Venue: IEOR Seminar Room

Abstract: Emerging public health challenges demand new models of collaboration that bridge disciplinary boundaries and institutional silos. At ARTPARK’s Data Science Innovation Hub, we’ve established a consortium of researchers, policymakers, and data scientists to address these challenges through collaborative, problem-led research. Our work focuses on infectious disease modelling, climate-health intersections, and early warning systems for vector-borne diseases. By combining expertise from different fields, we develop practical, data-driven solutions tailored to the needs of policymakers and health authorities. This approach highlights the value of building collaborative platforms where researchers and governments work together, ensuring that solutions are not only innovative but also actionable and scalable. Through these partnerships, we demonstrate how a shared, adaptive research process can effectively address complex public health problems.

Bio: Adish Illikkal is a Data Science Fellow at ARTPARK at IISc Bengaluru. Adish has a background in mathematical modelling and interdisciplinary science. He primarily focuses on leveraging statistics, data science, and epidemiology tools to develop effective control strategies for infectious diseases. Prior to this, he worked on areas ranging from climate networks to socio-ecological systems. His work applies complex systems thinking to climate-health challenges.
