IEOR Day 2025 : A Grand Convergence of Industry and Academia IEOR, Organized by the Department of IEOR

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR) at IIT Bombay hosted its grand annual celebration, IEOR Day 2025, on March 8 and 9. The two-day event brought together leading academicians, industry experts, and students to discuss the evolving landscape of IEOR and its impact on real-world challenges. It is held at the VMCC and the PC Saxena Auditorium.  The event was a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration.

Keynote Speakers and Panel Discussions

The event featured an impressive lineup of distinguished speakers and panelists from industry.

Industry Leaders:

Abhik Giri (Western Digital, Principal OR Scientist) – Spoke on data-driven decision-making and optimization in storage systems.

Sumit Neogi (FedEx, Managing Director HR MEISA Region) – Discussed workforce optimization and AI-driven HR solutions.

Shubhankar Chatterji (Valvoline Cummins Pvt Ltd India, Board Member) – Shared insights on the role of OR in strategic decision-making.

Balasubramanian V (FSS CashTech, CEO) – Highlighted financial optimization and risk management.

Rohan Anand (Delhivery, Head of AI) – Explored AI applications in supply chain and logistics.

Shivangi Saklani (Procter & Gamble, Senior Manager) – Addressed operational efficiency and consumer analytics.

Navin Kumar (Drewry Research, Director) – Discussed maritime logistics optimization.

Jaimini Bhattacharyya (Micron India, Staff OR Engineer) – Presented research on semiconductor supply chain analytics.

Abhishek Roy (Ex Principal Data Scientist, Locus.sh) – Spoke on last-mile delivery optimization.

Diwakar Pathak (Ericsson, SPM & Portfolio Lead, Data & Analytics) – Addressed network optimization in telecommunications.

Senoj Jones (Tredence Inc., Senior Manager, SC & Manufacturing) – Explored predictive analytics for manufacturing operations.

Vishnu Subash (Deloitte, Partner) – Highlighted the role of OR in consulting and strategic planning.

Vinit Rongata (Meesho, Senior Manager - Data Science) – Discussed AI-driven decision support in e-commerce.

Academic Discourse and Technical Sessions

The event also saw notable professors from IEOR department actively engaging, and expressing their appreciation to the speakers. They interacted with attendees and contributed to insightful discussions throughout the sessions.

Workshops and Student Engagement

The event featured hands-on workshops and interactive sessions where students engaged in problem-solving challenges, hackathons, and networking opportunities with industry professionals. A total of 27 selected teams from various colleges participated, out of which six teams advanced to the final presentation. Teams from BITS Pilani Goa and IIT Bombay emerged as winners of LogiTHON.
