Title: IEOR applications in transportation and logistics

Abstract: The talk will discuss the application of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research to multiple problems in transportation and logistics. The following two works/cases will be discussed in detail: (i) Multi-objective optimization algorithms for freight allocation in a food grain supply chain, and (ii) Railway crew scheduling for passenger rail operations. A few other related works in the domain of transportation and logistics will be discussed in brief.      

Brief bio: Dr. K P Anoop is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at NIT Calicut. His research focuses on the application of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research to problems in Transportation, Logistics, and Supply Chain Management. He completed his PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management from NIT Calicut and has worked as a Postdoctoral fellow in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research at IIT Bombay. He has published his research in refereed international journals and reputed conferences. He has completed a sponsored research project and has received four awards for papers presented at international conferences. He has also been a visiting faculty at Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara.
