IEOR Seminar by Prof. Michael Feindt

Title: Applied AI/ML: From CERN towards the autonomous supply chain

Time: 10:30AM, Monday, February 25, 2019

Venue: Seminar Room, 2nd Floor, IEOR Building

Speaker: Prof. Michael Feindt, Professor of Physics, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology Founder and Chief Scientist, Blue Yonder, a JDA company

Abstract: The talk describes the way from first applications of neural networks in elementary particle physics at CERN in 1993 via the development of an algorithm that predicts whole probability distributions up to the automation of highly skilled PhD scientist work. It also describes the idea to solve real economy problems with these algorithms, the foundation and growth of a private company with the aim to automate millions of routine decisions in enterprises, its very successful application especially in retail and the vision of the creating an autonomous end-to-end supply chain from manufacturing via retail up to the end customer, driven by data and artificial intelligence.
