The Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR), IIT Bombay, organized the Stochastic Processes on Networks (SPoN) Workshop on 2–3 August 2026 as part of the IEOR Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Bheeshm Sharma, a PhD Scholar under Prof. P. Balamurugan at IEOR, recently completed an internship as a PhD Research Sciences Intern at Microsoft, Hyderabad. During his internship, Bheeshm focused on developing an Automatic Prompt Optimization (APO) tool designed to refine system prompts for various product features.

PhD students Simran Lakhani and Debanjan Gangopadhyay along with MTech students Rijin Raj and Ishaan Mane from the department of IEOR attended the 6th Large-Scale Optimization (LSO 2026) summer school organized by IIT Delhi.
This summer school served as a great opportunity for the students to increase their knowledge about various topics in the field of Optimization and Decision Sciences. The LSO hosted speakers from various IIT's and IIM's and all these speakers were able to deliver really insightful sessions.
Hritiz Gogoi presented his PhD research work titled “Exactness of Semidefinite Relaxation of the Max-Cut Problem” at the SIAM Conference on Optimization (OP26), organized by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). The conference was held at The University of Edinburgh from June 2–5, 2026.
