Abstract of the talk: The talk focuses on the modelling aspects in a real life multimodal food grain transportation problem. The bulk transportation of food grains undertaken by the Food Corporation of India is discussed. The emerging concept of synchromodal transportation is introduced and the future research directions are explored.
About the speaker: Anoop K P completed his PhD in logistics and supply chain management from NIT Calicut. He worked closely with Food Corporation of India and developed models and heuristic algorithms to improve the freight transportation function. His research interest lies in the application of OR based methods in freight logistics and supply chain management.
