SoULS Initiative, IIT Bombay bagged the 'CSIR S&T for Rural Development Award 2019' worth Rs. 10 lakhs and a citation and a plaque. Professor Chetan S. Solanki from Department of Energy Science and Engineering , Prof. N. C. Narayayanan from Center for Technology Alternatives in Rural Areas and Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran from Industrial Engineering and Operation Research are fully involved in the project planning and execution.
For each year one such award is given by CSIR, Council of Scientific and Industrial Research . This annual award consists of cash prize of Rs. 10 lakhs, a citation and a plaque. The award was announced on 26th September 2020 in a virtual program. The SoUL project is the largest project implemented by IIT Bombay. It has benefited more than a million school children. We are proud of this achievement and are grateful for the help of sponsors of the project.
