Endowment by alumnus Nivesh Kumar

IEOR, IITB is delighted to announce an endowment of Rs 1.25 Crores by our alumnus, Mr Nivesh Kumar, for furthering academic activities in IEOR department over the next 5-10 years.  The endowment has multiple components, intended to support students, faculty and staff in their research efforts and create opportunities to explore newer areas, including in the field of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research.  The MoU provides for research support in the form of awards, support for specific research projects and recognition of quality work in the area.  It also envisages seed funding for new projects and promising areas of work.  More details on the 'IEOR Alumnus Endowment Awards' will be updated in IEOR website soon.

Nivesh Kumar is an M.Tech alumnus of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, graduating from IIT Bombay in 2006.  Nivesh has worked in the quantitative finance sector after graduation, working in India, Japan, Hong Kong, the UK and Singapore for different investment banks and hedge funds, and is currently with ExodusPoint Capital Management, as a systematic Portfolio Manager managing global equities portfolio based out of Singapore.  His area of expertise is Quantitative Trading.

Nivesh Kumar, at the time of finalizing the endowment: "My family and myself are very proud to support IEOR department faculty and students in their endeavor to be one of the best globally and to that end, I am committing to support the IEOR department in the coming years and I hope we can go to new highs in our pursuit of academic excellence globally.  It gives us immense pleasure to announce the current endowment fund  and we will be looking to grow the fund and will be very happy to support new areas of  cutting edge research and development which our country needs at the moment given the global pandemic."

Narayan Rangaraj, Professor, IEOR: "The department is very happy to receive such an endowment from one of its alumni.  Nivesh has consistently appreciated the interaction he has had with our group, in terms of the academic and professional values that he has cultivated during his stay at IIT Bombay and subsequently.  Independent of this endowment by Nivesh, we can say the same, that we have valued our association with him, as a student and as an alumnus."
