The paper titled An innovative modelling framework for freight consolidation in transportation planning authored by Manoj Kumar (Doctoral scholar, IEOR) and Anoop K P (Post-Doctoral Fellow, IEOR) won the commendable paper award at the Ninth International Conference on Business Analytics and Intelligence (BAICONF 2022) held at IIM Bangalore during 15 - 17 December 2022.
The paper addresses freight consolidation in rail transportation planning and proposes an efficient modelling framework based on Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (with a pre-processing stage) to generate optimal allocation plans for a given freight transportation network.
The conference was organized by the Data Centre and Analytics Lab (DCAL), IIM Bangalore. A total of 158 papers were presented by academic and corporate professionals based on their research on real-life problems/data in the analytics domain. There were seven plenary sessions with 13 invited speakers and a panel discussion on Data Storytelling. The conference witnessed healthy participation from the industry and corporate professionals.
