IEOR Day 2024, held on March 16th, 2024, at the SOM auditorium, aimed to unite professionals from various industries, academia experts, faculty, students, and alumni to explore the wide-ranging applications of IEOR techniques. The theme for the event was 'Spectrum of IEOR.'
Commencing the event, Prof. Jayendran Venkateshwaran, Head of IEOR, delivered the welcome address. Distinguished speakers included Mr. Srijan Sengupta (NC State University), Mr Souvik Barat (Tata Consultancy Services), Mr. Anureet Saxena (Columbia Threadneedle Investments), Prof. Varun Ramamohan (IIT Delhi), Prof. Madhu Belur (IIT Bombay), and Mr. Nilesh Phadnis (Accura Pharmaquip).
The program featured talks by industry experts followed by a brief intermission for tea, during which PhD and master's students presented posters on their research. Academic experts then delivered additional talks.
Following a lunch break, the first-panel discussion, "Experiences after leaving IEOR," featured alumni Mr. Avinash Gupta (ASAPPP.com), Mr. Rakesh Ambre, and Prof. Sundaravalli Narayanaswami (IIM Ahmedabad), moderated by Prof. Narayan Rangaraj. Subsequently, the latest edition of the department's annual magazine 'Optimystic' was unveiled.
Further talks were followed by another panel discussion titled "When the Rubber Hits the Road - Implementing Academic Solutions in Industry," featuring Mr. Balaji Raman (Cogitaas), Mr. Rajesh Ramnani (ApnaWahan), and Mr. Anureet Saxena (Columbia Threadneedle Investments), moderated by Prof. Avinash Bhardwaj.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the overall coordinators and a group photograph capturing the attendees.
