Applications are invited for the PhD programme in the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR).
To apply, visit the IIT Bombay PhD Admissions Page. Applications can be submitted using the "Online Application Portal" link given therein, on or before 17 October 2025 (Friday). A detailed advertisement, important dates, rules and regulations, FAQs, etc., can also be found on that page.
The selection process consists of a written aptitude test and interviews (both online). For more details, see the IEOR PhD Admissions Page.
Research areas
The department actively conducts research in all areas of IE and OR, including supply chain management, transportation and logistics, healthcare systems, simulation modeling and analysis, stochastic models and stochastic control, multi-agent systems and game theory, artificial intelligence and machine learning, etc. To know more about the research areas in IEOR, visit the webpages of faculty members.

An online Open House will be conducted on 10 October 2025 (Friday) from 6-7 p.m. targeted at prospective PhD students. This session will provide an overview of research areas in IEOR, opportunities available after graduation, and address questions from prospective students.
