The Department of Industrial Engineering & Operations Research (IEOR), IIT Bombay, in collaboration with Educational Outreach, IIT Bombay, successfully concluded the 6th Naval Operations Analysis (NOA) Course on 19 June 2026. Conducted over five months, the programme equipped officers of the Indian Navy with advanced knowledge in operations research, analytical modelling, data-driven decision-making, and AI-enabled approaches for addressing complex operational challenges in defence.
The valedictory ceremony was graced by Commodore J. L. Rego, Director of INTEG, Indian Navy, who played a pivotal role in initiating the Naval Operations Analysis Course for the Navy, and Prof. P. Seshu Pasumarthy, Founding Director of IIT Dharwad and former Professor at IIT Bombay, whose distinguished contributions to computational mechanics and engineering education have had a lasting impact on academia. Both dignitaries congratulated the graduating officers and commended their commitment to professional excellence.
The programme was steered under the guidance of Prof. Manjesh Kumar Hanawal, Professor-in-Charge of the Technocraft Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence (TCAAI), IIT Bombay, reinforcing the Centre's commitment to advancing the application of artificial intelligence and operations research in strategic and national security domains. The successful completion of the sixth edition reflects IEOR and TCAAI's continued efforts to foster meaningful collaborations between academia and the defence forces while building future-ready analytical capabilities for national service.
