Aravind Kumar V, a student at IEOR, completed a summer internship from May 15 to July 14, 2026 at the FedEx South-Wing facility in Chandivali, Mumbai.
The internship applied data-driven operations and automation frameworks to diagnose and streamline internal process gaps within a leading global logistics enterprise. By integrating data extraction methodologies with real-time operational intelligence, the work focused on optimizing resource allocation, defect management, and reporting workflows. Through a hands-on approach involving automated pipelines and centralized analytics, the experience surfaced key broad learnings: the operational bottleneck caused by fragmented manual reporting, the necessity of automated Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to maintain process momentum, and the strategic value of real-time dashboards in shifting management from reactive troubleshooting to proactive capacity forecasting.
The internship provided an opportunity to engage with technology leads, cross-functional support teams, and industry practitioners working at the intersection of customer technology and global logistics, offering a deeper understanding of the broader managerial implications of digital transformation within the supply chain sector.
