Large Scale Optimization(LSO) Workshop in IIT Roorkee

Kritika, Pintu, and Santosh PhD students of IEOR department attended the 4th Large Scale Optimization Workshop held at IIT Roorkee from May 18th to May 26th, 2024. In addition to participating, Kritika volunteered at the workshop and presented her research.

The workshop primarily focused on Integer Programming (IP), Mixed Integer Programming (MIP), Mixed Integer Linear Programming (MILP), and Mixed Integer Nonlinear Programming (MINLP). Esteemed faculty from various IITs and IIMs delivered lectures on a range of topics, including Branch and Bound (by Prof. Sachin Jayswal, IIM Ahmedabad), Branch and Cut, Branch and Price, Benders Cut (by Prof. Sachin Jayswal, IIM Ahmedabad), Cutting Plane Method (by Prof. Yogesh Agrawal, IIM Lucknow), Lagrangian Relaxation (by Prof. Sachin Jayswal, IIM Ahmedabad), KKT Conditions (by Prof. Ashutosh Mahajan, IIT Bombay), Column Generation (by Prof. Faiz Ahmad, IIT Kanpur), Dantzig-Wolfe Decomposition (by Prof. Faiz Ahmad, IIT Kanpur), and Knapsack structures (by Guneshwar Anand, IIM Visakhapatnam).

The nine-day workshop was structured to enable participants to develop and solve optimization models using AMPL, Gurobi, and Cplex, with implementations in C++ and Python. Additionally, the summer school provided an excellent networking opportunity for attendees to connect with professors, researchers, and professionals in the field.
