The Game Theory Lab at the Department of Computer Science and Automation, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, organized the GAME-ARTS, Game Theory, Mechanism Design and Artificial Intelligence Symposium, which saw a significant turnout from the IEOR department. Attendees included students, alumni, and faculty members such as Prof. N. Hemachandra, Prof. K.S. Mallikarjuna Rao, Prof. Urban Larsson, and Prof. P. Balamurugan.
Prof. N. Hemachandra delivered an invited talk titled "Which amino acids differentiate a pair of paralogous protein sequences with different functions? A data-driven approach," based on collaborative work with IEOR PhD student Pranav Mahingal and two collaborators, Rakesh Busi and Prof. P.V. Balaji from the Bioscience Department.
Additionally, the symposium witnessed a rare and notable event: a chain of six generations of PhD advisors and their students shared the stage. This impressive lineage included Prof. N. Hemachandra, a professor at IEOR, and Prof. Vikas Vikram Singh, an IEOR PhD graduate. Others across the generations are Prof. B. L. Deekshatulu, Prof. N. Viswanadham, Prof. Y. Narahari and Dr. V. Varagapriya.
Eight students from the IEOR department received the Professor Ram Kumar scholarship, which included a registration package, complimentary food, and accommodation.
