Neeraj Kumar, a PhD student from the department of Industrial Engineering and operations research attended a four-day PhD school on Nonlinear Mixed-Integer and Complementarity-Constrained Optimization in Freiburg, Germany. The school covered nonlinear optimization, mixed-integer nonlinear optimization (MINLO), and optimization with complementarity constraints, spanning theoretical foundations, computational methods, and modelling practice. Hands-on Python sessions using CasADi applied these methods to problems in energy systems, engineering, and decision-making.
