Satyajeet Rao, a second-year M.Tech student in IEOR, IIT Bombay, attended SEMICON India 2026 at Yashobhoomi, New Delhi. The event was centred on the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.”
The event brought together government representatives, global semiconductor companies, industry leaders, startups, investors and academia. Inaugural sessions, including an interaction with Union Minister Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw, offered insights into India’s vision for building a globally competitive semiconductor ecosystem.
Across the three days, discussions covered next-generation manufacturing, AI, supply chains, design-to-product, sustainability, startups, workforce development and international collaboration. Panel discussions with senior industry leaders and CEOs provided perspectives on industry challenges, technological developments and their experiences in building the ecosystem.
A particularly enriching experience was attending the Country Roundtables, where industry leaders from different countries engaged with Indian industry leaders on collaboration, technology partnerships, investment and resilient supply chains.
