Operations Research with effect from 21 January 2011.

Prof N. Hemachandra (IEOR) has been appointed as Convenor of IEOR in October 2010 and has taken over 
from Prof Narayan Rangaraj (IEOR) on 24 January 2011.

Research Scholar Ketki Kulkarni participated in the Inter IIT Sports Championships held at IIT Delhi in December 2010. She won the silver medal in Tennis and the bronze medal in Table Tennis tournaments.

Students of IEOR participated in the TechConnect Exhibition (January 7-9, 2011) as part of TechFesh at IIT Bombay and creatively displayed the extent of problems under the gamut of IEOR. The exhibition had displays of simulated models and agent based simulation theme, interesting puzzles like Sudoku solver, fun representation of  concepts like Markov Chains, applications of IEOR in varied areas such as railway operations, game  theory and so on.

Prof Narayan Rangaraj (IEOR) gave an invited talk titled "Industrial Engineering and Operations Research applied to Infrastructure and Service Sectors" at the College of Engineering, Trivandrum on 26 November, 2010, at the International Conference on Technological Trends, organized by College of Engineering Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.
