Savad KP, a PhD student from the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR), participated in the International Conference on Operations Research and Decision Science (ICORDS 2025), held at the MAHE, Manipal, India, from June 5-7, 2025. The conference was in honour of Prof. TES Raghavan. Prof. N Hemachandra gave an invited talk on an ongoing work with me on the topic 'Solutions from efficient sets of multi-objective problems and efficient policies of some MDPs'.
Hritiz Gogoi and Hrishikesh V attended the workshop on Geometry, Probability, and Algorithms held at ICTS, TIFR, Bengaluru. The event brought together researchers working on problems at the intersection of geometric, probabilistic, and algorithmic methods. The workshop featured tutorials on diverse topics, including local stationarity in Markov chains, streaming algorithms, and spectral refutations with applications to algorithms and combinatorics.
Avi Roy Chowdhury recently presented paper titled "HIERARCHICAL HYBRID SIMULATION MODELING OF BACTERIAL DISEASE INFECTION", (co-authored with Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran, and Om Damani), at the 12th Simulation Workshop 2025, held at the Mercure Rougemont Hotel, Exeter, UK, from 31 March to 2 April 2025.
Avi Roy Chowdhury attended the conference along with Prof. Jayendran Venkateswaran (member in panel discussion).
IEOR had a strong presence at the industry event organized by Gurobi in Benagluru (April 9-10, 2025). At least twenty IEOR alumni were at the event (see photos on Day 1 and Day 2) and Ashutosh Mahajan from IEOR was an invited speaker (he spoke on nonlinear optimization models in design of water networks - ongoing work with Ph.D. student Nitish Dumoliya). Narayan Rangaraj participated in a panel discussion on the second day.
Riya Sultana was invited for presenting her work in Annual PMRF Symposium 2025. She has presented a poster titled: 'Cooperate or Compete: Coalition formation in Congestion Games' at PMRF Symposium at IIT Hyderabad. The symposium was held on 16-17 march 2025
The Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (IEOR) at IIT Bombay hosted its grand annual celebration, IEOR Day 2025, on March 8 and 9. The two-day event brought together leading academicians, industry experts, and students to discuss the evolving landscape of IEOR and its impact on real-world challenges. It is held at the VMCC and the PC Saxena Auditorium. The event was a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange, networking, and collaboration.
Keynote Speakers and Panel Discussions
A team of students and faculty from the IEOR department visited the FedEx warehouse in Mumbai to gain insights into its workflows, observe state-of-the-art warehouse technologies, understand operational challenges, and identify potential research opportunities to address existing inefficiencies.
